Sharks currently found in hotter parts of the world could be in our seas by 2048.
New research has revealed ten species including Great Whites, Hammerheads and Blacktip sharks will be attracted to Irish waters as the seas warm up.
The increased temperature is due to climate change.
The study was commissioned by National Geographic’s week-long TV series called Sharkfest.
Speaking to the Irish Sun, shark expert Dr Ken Collins said it would only take a change of one degree in water temperature for the sharks to come here:
"You get Great Whites off the coast of South Africa where the water is colder than here and I see no reason why we should not have them in our waters."
He revealed that the sharks would more than likely reside off Cork and Waterford due to the seal population at those coasts:
"Seals are like hamburgers to sharks, fat, juicy and meaty."
Eeeek!
