What do you do if your other half proposes with a ring you don't like?

Do you say nothing and wear it because you're madly in love and something like a piece of jewellery doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things?

Or do you tell them nicely you'd like a different ring because it's not your style and you have to wear it for the rest of your life?

Either way, you probably wouldn't take to social media to slag it. Or would you?

That's exactly what one woman did and her boyfriend hadn't even popped the question to her.

The unidentified woman posted a photo of a diamond ring in a Facebook group, with the caption:

"Ewwwww. Self shame Friday here I come. Found this in the BF's nightstand. Not a fan. Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different."

That post quickly ended up on Reddit, where it caused uproar.

"I hope he sees this, and then RUNS...this just defies what this ring should really be about and proves she doesn't even deserve a ring out of a dollar vending machine. This poor, poor man."

"The fact that she’s upset about the ring and not excited that her partner is about to propose is a massive red flag," wrote another.

"Honestly, her saying no would be the best thing to happen to the person who's planning to propose."

"Marriage isn't about a ring."

Many people commented on the fact that the woman's boyfriend had yet to ask her to marry him.

"Plot twist, it’s not for her."

"'I found this and don't like it.' 'That's okay, it was my grandmother's ring and I'm saving it for the right person, you're not her.'"
