A Japanese billionaire is to become the first "space tourist" to fly around the Moon.

Elon Musk introduced Yusaku Maezawa at the headquarters of SpaceX in California.

The 42 year old online fasion tycoon is thought to be worth three billion dollars.

He plans to bring eight artists and 'cultural figures' with him on the flight.

The mission is reportedly planned for 2023, and would be the first lunar journey by humans since 1972.

However, the rocket for the journey hasn't been built yet. The Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) is expected to stand 118m high and have a diameter of 9m.

SpaceX has called it 'the most powerful rocket in history'.

Last year, Musk announced that he would be sending two paying passengers on a loop around the Moon.

It hasn't been revealed how much Mr Maezawa paid to do it.
