The recent devastation suffered by residents in Houston, Texas has been well documented after the unprecedented carnage caused by Hurricane Harvey.
Several people lost their lives and thousands have been left without a home in what was the fiercest storm to hit the US in over a decade.
And while every single donation towards the victims of the horrible storm is extremely valuable, there are those among us who have the capacity to do more, given their position in society.
One such influential person is Ellen De Generes, the popular and notoriously generous U.S talk show host.
Such is her generosity in fact, that she has pledged $50,000 (US) to go towards the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Making the gesture even more amazing is the fact the money will come out of her own pocket.
Her incredible act of kindness includes a $25,000 donation for the American Red Cross and a further $25,000 for the Texas SPCA.
Ellen has urged others to join in the donations, one such means of helping is by texting the word "Harvey" to 90999, which automatically donates $10 to the American Red Cross.
