OK we realise this is only for people in New Zealand.. for now! You never know, it might 'take off' this side of the world soon!
Domino's is planning to deliver pizza by drone as soon as September. They carried out a test delivery in Auckland and it is believed to have been successful.
They hope to offer a regular drone delivery service from 25 September.
Amazon and Google are some of the other giant brands planning to deliver items by drone. However, some are saying that this is just a stunt for publicity, with Philip Solaris, CEO of drone company X-craft saying: "It's completely unfeasible at the moment. I can't truly see how commercially viable that idea is because you would have to literally have somebody walking along to keep it in the line of sight, watching it at all times."
Minister for transport in NZ Simon Bridges says "Our enabling laws and regulation means we have the ideal environment." So it would seem Dominos have the backing from the government. We wonder how much they will charge for delivery now.... probably plenty of dough.......... sorry.
