This rescue's dog bucket list will make you cry your eyes out.
Miss Willie spent her entire life tied up outside on a small patch of dirt in Halifax County in North Carolina.
The Corgi mix was first spotted by PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) twelve years ago but her owner refused to hand her over to the charity.
PETA fieldworkers visited the adorable pooch as often as they could, bringing clean water, food, bedding and toys.
Earlier this month, fieldworker Jes Cochran visited Miss Willie and found her in poor health, wheezing and barely able to stand. Only then did her owner agree to surrender her.
She was finally free but a vet revealed she was suffering from end-stage heartworm disease, lung tumours and other ailments. She only had weeks to live.
Jes created a bucket list for Miss Willie to give her the best final days possible. It included a birthday party, a day at the beach, a canoe ride, a massage and a pizza night.
PETA said:
"For the first time in her life, Miss Willie slept inside on soft bedding after fun-filled days and finally got the chance to experience the life that she should have always lived."
She died sixteen days after her rescue surrounded by people who loved her.
The charity is now working to get chaining banned in Halifax County.
