Once upon a time a 14-year-old girl got hit in the eye during a game of badminton and lost her contact lens...
A long time later, at the age of 42, she visited her ophthalmologist for what she thought was a totally unrelated problem.
Turns out, that same contact lens was found embedded in a cyst in her eyelid.
It's reported her left eyelid had been swolen and dropping for 6-or-so-months.
Doctors could feel a small lump under her skin, which is believed to be the missing contact lens.
Naturally the woman could not recall the specific event. It was her Mother who remembered the badminton incident from 28 years earlier.
Some contact lens-wearers are feeling a little uncomfortable...
I WAS TOLD THIS WAS AN URBAN LEGEND AND NOT SOMETHING THAT COULD REALLY HAPPEN OH MY GOD https://t.co/VoUwSskEM9

This woman had a cyst in her eyelid because her contact lens was lodged there for 28 years when she was hit in the face during a game of badminton as a child.
This is why I don’t wear contact lenses!! ? https://t.co/4LtJZMTTTS
