He died on Friday morning after a short illness, a representative confirmed.
Swift was best known for playing Richard Bucket in the BBC series Keeping Up Appearances.
The actor first appeared on the small screen in the BBC's The Barchester Chronicles. Most recently in December 2007, he starred in a Doctor Who Christmas special alongside Kylie Minogue.
His final TV role was as Felix Hope in Midsomer Murders in 2017.
