China's Chang'e-4 mission achieved the first soft landing of the far side of the moon on the 3rd of January this year.
Adding to it's already impressive successes, the mission then pioneered the first mini biosphere experiment on the moon.

"#ChinaTech: The latest released experimental picture shows that cotton seeds carried on the Chang'e-4 probe have sprouted, marking the first biological experiment on the lunar surface #ChangE4", tweeted Chine News.
The Chang'e-4 probe took cotton seeds to the surface of the moon, and photos show the seed seems to have sprouted.

As seen in the above images, it seems to have sprouted well.
Seeds of cotton, rape, potato and arabidopsis, as well as eggs of the fruit fly and some yeast were carried, but none of the other plants were found growing.
