Authorities who are searching through what's left of homes and cars added that dozens more could still be missing.

59 people are known to have lost their lives in the disaster.

Three infernos caused chaos, devestation and heartbreak in the state.

The causes of all three fires remains unknown, but dry underbush and high winds in the state, combined with hot temperatures, have created the perfect breeding ground for the fires to ignite and spread rapidly.

The fire is the deadliest in the history of the state.

It's not solely humans who have been displaced though - family pets, ranging from horses, to dogs, to goats have found themselves separated from their owners as they fleed from the fire, or resuced by concerned neighbours and passers-by.

Here's some of them:

"If you are missing your #horse from the #woosleyfire in #Malibu, please check @piercecollege and Hansen Dam Equistrian center in Sylmar, we have a lot of horses from #bellcanyon"

Now comes the task of finding our last kitty who couldn't be found while evacuating. If anyone sees him anywhere let me know. Merlin is missing his left eye and has a clipped right ear. Last seen on Forest Circle in Paradise.

#foundlivestock #foundgoat #campfirepets found on Merrill & put in our corral with our animals. We are in Susanville right now. Trying to find his owners.

We found this cat at Wagstaff Road/Rocky Lane. @HaywardFireNews is driving around with pet food and water to help out animals who've made it through this fire! Kitty is at VCA Valley Oak Vet Center. Might be an orange cat under all the ash. #CampFire

Still no luck with #Splinter. Not giving up hope till someone gives me some hard evidence that hes gone. Here is another picture i have #CampFireJamesWoods #CampFire

This sweet baby was just brought into the Chico Airport from the #CampFire, but her owners haven’t been located yet. What do you think her name is? Reply to this thread with your thoughts. @TheStateHornet

HALFWAY THERE!
The folks at http://www.boxer-rescue-la.com found out this boy who showed up at the Pierce College fire evacuation center is now at the West Valley Animal Shelter. If his owners don’t claim him in the required amount of time, he will go up for adoption. Thank you all!

Volunteer organizations, including @NVADG, have been working to relocate and shelter animals from the fire area. We couldn’t have accomplished as much as we have over the past week without their help. #CampFire #ButteCounty @CountyofButte @ButteSheriff

Got Bear back from the fires. He was rescued by North Valley Pet Rescue just a few hours ago. Thank you to everyone retweeting & providing information and concern. This is very happy ending. #campfire

Air quality is unhealthy for people AND pets due to the #WoolseyFire. Bring your furry friends indoors and immediately take them to an animal hospital if they show signs of respiratory distress (e.g. panting and/or inability to catch their breath) ??
