Yes, THIS Bowl sold for €39,000,000.
No, WE are not joking.
Look we cannot fully understand why anyone would want to pay that amount of money for a ceramic bowl that isn't even big enough for your morning porridge either.
But, Apparently this is no ordinary bowl, This was A HIGHLY IMPORTANT AND EXTREMELY RARE RU GUANYAO BRUSH WASHER.
The Bowl was sold at Sotheby's, The auction house, to the highest bidder who has remained anonymous (If I had spent the price of an exotic island on a bowl I would remain anonymous too)
In Simple Terms, This bowl is around 1000 years old, and extremely rare. It is steeped in Chinese culture and there are only four pieces of heirloom Ru-ware that exist in private hands.
The Bowl is Only 13cm (5in) across which means for every cm it cost €3,000,000
LOOK ! We cannot fully understand it either, but if you have the time and patience you can read the full history of this outrageously expensive bowl on the Sothebys website
I think we will stick to the €2 bowls we have in the office.
