Fans of Peaky Blinders will be delighted to hear that it took a surprise win in the best drama category, as The Crown and Netflix managed only one major award despite leading the nominations.
Peaky Blinders saw off competition from Channel 4’s profane comic book adaptation End of the F***ing World and BBC’s Line of Duty, which along with The Crown was tipped to take the award.
Another surprise win went to Love Island which won the best Reality TV Show. Caroline Flack took to the stage to pick up the gong. Unfortunately Caroline became caught up in her huge trailing dress and tripped as she walked up a set of steps to the stage. Caroline, who recently announced her engagement to ‘Apprentice’ star Andrew Brady, laughed off the incident after accepting the award, saying: “I knew this dress was a bad idea!”
