Last year was Ireland's tourism industry's successful year on record.

People are flocking to see what our island has to offer more than ever before, and we can't blame them.

Whether it's the rugged west coast, the majesty of the cliffs of Moher, the stunning ring of Kerry, or the extremely sound people that call this place home - there's just something about Ireland.

And tourists from all over the globe are starting to realise why Ireland should be top of their getaway list.

Last year Ireland's tourism industry experienced its most successful year ever on record, according to Fáilte Ireland.

New figures show that more than an astounding 10.6 million people visited the country in 2018.

That was up nearly 7 per cent on 2017.

Tourists from North America were the most common, with those from the USA making up one-third of all revenue from overseas visitors.

While 2018 also saw a significant increase of tourists from Germany and Italy.
