Weapons of mass desiccation.
Rome Airport was closed on Monday afternoon after police discovered a suspicious piece of luggage.
But when they blew up the suitcase they cracked up - because it was full of coconuts.
Amazing, the Italian police have blown up a bag full of coconuts and have now reopened Rome airport. Here are the exploded coconuts: pic.twitter.com/LnHhYevWIE

Freelance journalist Ned Donovan was inside the airport and documented the incident on Twitter.
He said officers moved tourists and commuters back before carrying out a controlled explosion.
But when they saw the bag only contained coconuts, they walked away leaving the mess behind.

There’s so much about this incident that I enjoyed and also felt so Italian. They blew up what they thought was a bomb in the middle of the airport while people were about 10 metres away, and then when it was destroyed the police just wandered off and left it to be cleaned up

Twitter users thought the nutty incident was hilarious, sharing some brilliant puns.
They included "They were looking for Bounty hunters" and "Top notch policework. They blew the case wide open."
