The first sinkhole in September split a GAA pitch in two.

Another sinkhole has emerged in Co Monaghan, 35 metres from the Dromgossat Road close to Magheracloone, the scene of a previous sinkhole three months ago.

Experts said that the most likely cause of the fist one was the collapse of an old gypsum mine.

The latest sinkhole is nine-metres in diameter and has led to a road closure.

The LP4900 local road at Drumgossat has been closed with immediate effect.
