The gang at iRadio are thrilled today, after receiving four nominations in the prestigious and highly recognised IMRO Radio Awards, which take place in Kilkenny next month.
The awards are colloquially known as "The Oscars of the Irish Radio Industry" and take place at the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny on October 6th.
iRadio has been nominated in 4 different categories;
Garry Curran and Fionnula Corbett have been nominated in the "Entertainment Inserts" category, for their entry titled "Dose of the Skits", showcasing the most random and "ridiculous" daily stories in a mashup of comedic madness.
Emma Nolan from iWork is up for "Best Radio DJ". Her show is all about relatable and engaging content with interaction from those listening, along with viral content and the best current music/ music and gig news.
Dave Duke has received the nod in the "Best Newcomer" category. Dave joined iRadio's programming team with his highly interactive and conversation nightly show "The Hub" in March.
Remember jumping around like a mad-thing whenever you heard this?
iRadio's much loved "Chicken Dance" took place in September 2016 and had the country showing off their most ridiculous dance moves. It has been nominated in the On Air Competition/ Promotion category.
General Manager at iRadio Mark Cunning says;
"I’m delighted with today’s nominations. To receive recognition like this from our peers in the radio industry is a huge nod to the team here at iRadio. We strive to create fun, engaging and relevant content for our audience and receiving the email this morning with four nominations in the IRMO awards is proof that our hard work pays off... Roll on that famous Friday night in October in Kilkenny!"
There were a record number of entries for this years' awards; 90 judges judged 677 entries.
