Two people have died in two separate drowning incidents in the last 24 hours.
A 7 year-old boy has died after getting into difficulty in a swimming pool at a hotel in County Clare.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre in Kilaloe shortly before 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
The boy was recovered from the water unconscious and was brought from the scene to UHL where he was later pronounced dead.
Arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination.
It appears to have been a tragic accident.
A 52 year old Irish man has also died, after getting into difficulties while swimming in the sea off Portugal.
It's understood two locals jumped in to help, but also got into difficulty, and were rescued by lifeguards.
The Irish man was recovered from the water but was pronounced dead at the scene, at Inatel beach, in the Algarve.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is understood to be aware of the case and providing consular assistance.
The dead man has not yet been named.
People are being warned to be mindful around water- especially with the promise of warm, sunny weather over the next few days.
