How many empty spaces do you count?

An innocent brain teaser is driving the internet to the point of insanity.

The post, which comes from Instagram page Abstract Aerial Art, has sparked a frenzied quest online as people try to figure out how many vacant spots are among the parked cars.

The optical illusion was shared to Reddit, where the question was asked: “How many spaces do YOU see?”

“Only geniuses get it right, 99% of people get it wrong,” the user added.

Counting Cars - The point is not to work out what it is, but to show how weird and wonderful the world can look from above.

Users have been pulling their hair out ever since, desperately trying to figure out the correct answer.

“I counted eight,” one person wrote.

While another declared there was “definitely six”.

“No, there’s seven,” someone else posted. “Definitely, definitely seven.”

Other guesses include five, nine, 11 and even 47.

Naturally, some users have been left feeling “infuriated” by the mind-boggling test.

“I’m giving up, I keep going cross eyed,” one frustrated user wrote.

Another said: “This is infuriating.”

Just for the record, we counted 9 spaces in the iRadio office. However that wasn't without some heated debate and controversy over the bottom right hand space (because what kind of car looks like that...?).

How many do you see?
