Temps to hit 17C today, and the rest of the week doesn't look bad either

Feburary is the new July.

Cast your mind back approximately one year. People were frantically rushing around the country grabbing any loaf of bread they could get their hands on, as Storm Emma descended upon us.

Fast forward twelve months...and it looks like we're in for a fairly enjoyably mild week with splashes of sunshine. Go figure.

The unpredictability of Irish weather will be on full display today and going forward, according to Met Éireann, with the forecaster saying Monday will be very dry and very sunny day in most of the country, with maximum temperatures hitting as high as 17 degrees.

And it looks like we'll have a few more days of pleasant weather, until Thursday at least.

Tuesday and Wednesday are set to be similar to today (Monday) with mild Feburary conditions, sunny spells and highs of around 16C.

However, there is bad news too with “an Atlantic regime” set to re-establish itself towards the end of the week, leading to a more changeable and, at times, unsettled weather pattern.

In short Met Éireann is forecasting an increased risk of hail and thunder showers from Thursday onward.

So enjoy the good weather while you can!
