A 20-year-old man has pleaded guilty to assaulting a 10-week-old baby girl in 2017, reports RTE.
The man - who was aged 18 at the time - pleaded guilty to intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to the infant at an address in Co Louth on 13 March 2017.
The offence is contrary to section 4 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act
The case was to go to trial today at Dundalk Circuit Court, however Judge Patrick Quinn was told the man was entering a guilty plea.
Sentencing has been adjourned and the man was remanded on bail on the same terms and conditions until the next sitting of the court.
