Dublin's Lord Mayor Nial Ring has defended using his yearly allowance of alcohol in just seven months.
More than 10,000 pints have been served in the Mansion House since he came into office last June.
Nial Ring says most of the alcohol is consumed at evening functions but admits there have been a few exceptions.
"We've had afternoon events where people have had a little tipple afterwards, for example I do an afternoon tea for senior citizens once or twice a week. Sometimes they stay back and there's a little bit of a sing-song and they might get a pint or two."
The Mayor also says he has invited thousands of people to the Mansion House since he took office.
"We're making sure that the Mansion House is the house for the people of Dublin and especially the huge amount of volunteers that are doing great work for football clubs, G.A.A. clubs and homeless charities. What I have done so far this year, I've had over 16,000 people through the house."
