Family of murdered Sligo man urging public to stop sharing images of his body

A man and woman have been charged with the 30-year-old's murder.

The family of a man originally from Sligo, has urged the public to stop sharing images of his naked body online.

30-year-old Pat Ward's body was discovered in the early hours of Saturday morning in an alleyway in McCrea Park in Clogher, Co Tyrone.

He is understood to be a member of the Travelling community.

In the days since the horrific crime, videos and images of the brutal crime have begun circulating online. And the victim's family are pleading with the public to stop spreading the content.

Mr Ward's niece Bridget is reported as saying: "Can I take a moment to say thanks to everyone who is asking for the video not to be sent around and have respect for the family. It’s very much appreciated.

"We all know Pat was brutally killed but we all also know he went straight to the gold gates of heaven."

Man and woman charged.

On Tuesday night, a man and woman were charged with the murder.

A police statement said: "A 23-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman have been charged with murder.

"They are due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates Court (on Wednesday)."
