The latest figures from National Slowdown Day have been released.
The Gardaí checked nearly 200,000 vehicles as part of the campaign.
From 7am yesterday morning until 7am today the gardaí held a national speed enforcement operation.
Almost 200 thousand vehicles were checked during this time.
Just over 300 motorists were caught breaking the speed limit.
One of these was a driver caught doing 154 kilometres on the N20 In Co Cork.
Supported by the Road Safety Authority, National Slow Down Day aims to reduce the number of speed related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads.
To date 58 people have died on Irish roads this year.
