Sir Tom Moore was knighted by Queen Elizabeth earlier this afternoon.
The 100-year-old raised almost £33m for the NHS in lockdown.
A veteran of the Second World War, Sir Tom walked 100 lengths of his garden in Bedforshire earlier this year.
Today's unprecedented personal ceremony was held in Windsor Castle's Quadrangle.
Sir Tom's daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, son-in-law Colin Ingram, grandson Benjie and granddaughter Georgia were all in attendance.
Queen Elizabeth reportedly used a sword that belonged to her father, George VI, for the special ceremony.
