The Department of Education has confirmed this evening that the Leaving Certificate results are to be delayed until September 7th.
The new results date is more than 3 weeks later than usual.
This will have a knock on effect on CAO offers which will now be issued on September 11th.
In a statement this evening, the Department confirmed the news saying;
"Leaving Certificate students will to receive their calculated grade results on September 7th and the first round of CAO offers will be issued on September 11th".
Seeking to reassure students, they added;
"Results will be available in time for Round 1 offers from CAO and UCAS for colleges and universities in Ireland and UK".
However, there seems to be some confusion in the Dail with Aodhán Ó Ríordáin taking to Twitter to vent his frustration.
Delayed Leaving Cert results now being reported in media.
This is genuinely unbelievable considering Minister was in Dáil for over 2 hours & said nothing.
