A yellow wind warning has been issued by Met Éireann for Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Clare and Connacht.

It comes into effect from mid-day on St. Stephen's Day until 6am on Sunday.

Westerly winds associated with Storm Bella will reach speeds of 50 to 65 kilometres/hour with gusts of between 90 and 110 kilometres/hour.

Coastal flooding is possible with a combination of gusty winds, high waves and a forecasted storm surge.

Temperatures are expected to drop sharply after dark this evening, with widespread frost and some icy patches forming under mostly clear skies.

However, frost will clear from parts of west Connacht and west Ulster later in the night as increasing cloud brings a few patches of drizzle there.

Minimum temperatures ranging from -3 to +1 degrees in light variable breezes, leading to some fog patches developing in the southern half of the country.
