Every year's the same, you're chilling outside, enjoying the last of the summer afternoons eating or drinking something sweet and these little flying terrorists insist on ruining the vibe.

If you noticed this year was particularly bad though, you're definitely not alone.

Pest control company Rentokil has seen the number of callouts for wasps increase by 83 percent this year.

Over a quarter of those callouts came in County Mayo, with over 10% coming in both of Galway and Sligo.

It's urging the public to treat the flying pests with caution because the Autumn is when they're at their most aggressive.

Workers can get disoriented by the preparation for winter hibernation and dwindling food supplies as the weather gets cooler.
