Bad news if you're in the northern half of the country.

There's a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning in place for eight counties. It's in place for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.

Met Éireann has released one warning for counties in the Republic of Ireland. It's in place until 9pm and impacts Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan and Leitrim.

They say those areas are at risk of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Heavy downpours could also bring some localised flooding in parts.

Meanwhile in Northern Ireland, a warning from the UK Met Office is in place for Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry. It's in place until 8pm. Those areas can expect some scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms.
