But the weekend isn't looking too bad.

Thundery showers are set to continue for the next couple of days.

According to Met Éireann, there'll be heavy downpours on Thursday and Friday with the risk of hail and even thunder.

However, it'll pick up again over the weekend with the chance of bright spells in spots.

Here's the forecast for the next few days:

Thursday

Showers will become fairly widespread across the country with a few heavy, thundery downpours. The showers will mainly be across southern and western coastal counties towards evening meaning there'll be good spells of late sunshine elsewhere. Expect heavy showers on Thursday night as well in many areas with lows of 4 degrees.

Friday

Friday will be a very wintery day with widespread heavy showers of rain or hail and a risk of thunder. Highest temperatures of 14 degrees with those showers continuing through Friday night.

Saturday

Saturday will a cool day with bright spells and further heavy showers of rain or hail and a continued risk of thunder. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with moderate to fresh northerly breezes.

Sunday

Sunday will be a brighter day overall with the best of the sunshine in the west, where it'll be mostly dry apart from the odd scattered shower. In the east, there'll be further heavy showers or longer spells of rain and temperatures will reach a max of 14 degrees.
