But there's 22 degree weather on the horizon.

After a relativity pleasant spell of weather, we're set for a harsh wake up call, with thunder and hail expected across the country.

Met Éireann is forecasting rain showers that will become heavy this afternoon and evening with the risk of thunder and hail among the heavier showers.

Thankfully though Tuesday is set to be dry and sunny, with the odd shower in temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.

Wednesday and Thursday will be cloudy and drizzly, mostly in the northern half of the country, but there is likely to be a considerable improvement on Friday, when there will be a lot of dry weather, with temperatures reaching highs of 22 degrees (just in time for the bank holiday weekend).

And the early outlook for the weekend looks promising too, with Met Éireann predicting “a good deal of dry weather” and “fairly warm” conditions, with temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees.

So all in all this is probably a story about good weather, we just need to get today out of the way first...
