Can't argue with this...

Snoring is the country's most annoying habit in bed, Ireland's largest ever national sleep survey has found.

According to research by the Hastings Hotel group, 43% of those surveyed chose snoring, followed by stealing the duvet.

While 7.5% said partners coming to bed late was the most annoying habit followed by using screens.

Despite all of this, 42% of people prefer to have company in bed, while 24% like it all to themselves.

Dr Neil Stanley, an independent sleep consultant, said it's not surprising snoring tops the poll.

''The world health organistation says that in order to have a good nights sleep your bedroom needs to have a background noise of 35 decibels with intermittent peaks of 45 decibels, which is sort of truck going past your house,'' he said.

''But a snorer can be 75 to 95 decibels so it is an incredibly loud noise and maybe even louder because there's nothing to distract you in the middle of the night and that all you can hear.''

Some 69% of people said they sleep for between six and eight hours a night while another 22% reported sleeping for between four and six hours.

Just over 1% of those surveyed said they slept for less than four hours.
