But that doesn't mean we don't still love them now.
They're sweet, chocolately and come in a cute little tube with a letter on the lid - what more could you want?
Well, for fans of white chocolate, we think this latest update will give you exactly what you want but didn't know you wanted... until now.
Smarties UK and Ireland Instagram recently posted an image that got everyone excited:

They said, "something is coming...." - and it was confirmed by www.nestle.co.uk that white chocolate Smarties would hit shelves there in March.
We know what you're thinking - what about us here in Ireland???
Well, according to goss.ie, Smarties White will also hit stores in Ireland later this month.
They say they'll be available in the usual "recyclable paper packaging and will initially launch in a 38g hexatube."
While a 100g sharing bag will be available from June.
According to Maria McKenna, Confectionery Marketing Manager, Nestlé Ireland:
“Smarties White have all the fun, colour, and crunch of regular Smarties, but with a delectable white chocolate filling."
We cannot wait to see these hit the shelves.
