The lifelong supporter was released from hospital to enjoy the game in his home.

Seán Cox, who suffered life-changing injuries in an attack outside Anfield last year, was discharged from the National Rehabilitation Hospital for a few hours to watch Liverpool win the Champions League.

The lifelong Liverpool supporter watched last night's match with family and friends at his home in Dunboyne and the Reds' victory made it even more special.

While watching the match, he proudly wore a signed Liverpool jersey, sent to him by the club's CEO Peter Moore.

In a statement, Seán sent his congratulations.

His wife, Martina, said the club and its fans have taken Seán into their hearts since the attack.
