€75 million euro in funding has been announced to transform vacant rural buildings into remote working hubs.

The move comes as NUIG and the Western Development Commission launch their third national remote working survey.

The next step of the Remote Working Strategy aims to breath new life into rural areas by creating remote working hubs in its vacant buildings.

Rural Development Minister Heather Humphreys says once-great buildings will be repurposed for modern needs:

"Old hotels, old convents and indeed, old market houses ... They're lying empty so this money is going to help regenerate those buildings" she explained.

Meanwhile the third National Remote Working Survey has been launched today.

The survey is available on NUI Galway’s website.
