This follows two hoax bomb threats to Minister for Justice Helen McEntee.
The Finance Minister fears we're one step away from a politician or a public figure being physically assaulted.
It follows a number of concerning incidents involving politicians in recent weeks. In particular, the two hoax bomb threats to Minister Helen McEntee.
As well as that, a death threat was spray painted close to TD Paul Murphy’s home. This incident has also been reported to Gardaí. While former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was subjected to homophobic abuse over the weekend.
Minister Michael McGrath says it’s extremely worrying.
He said: "We have a very decent society in Ireland and that kind of behaviour doesn't represent the majority of people."
Minister McGrath says he's worried someone will go a step further to harm another person which he describes as "unthinkable".
