Some way to bring 2020!
The headliners for this year's Countdown Concert on New Year's Eve have been revealed.
Walking on Cars, Ash, Aimee and Lisa McHugh will all take to the stage on Custom House Quay in Dublin to ring in 2020.
Walking on Cars will be back in the capital after a jam-packed summer of European festivals supporting their new album, Colours. The four-piece from Dingle have recently completed a sold-out UK tour and a clutch of huge arena and outdoor shows in Ireland, including their stand-out date Independent Park in Cork last summer.
This'll be the eighth year of the New Year's Eve Countdown Concert and the festival will see four massive events take place over two days on December 31st 2019 and January 1st 2020. The festivities include countdown events at the Custom House - Liffey Lights Midnight Moment and the Countdown Concert.
Paul McAuliffe, Lord Mayor of Dublin, said:
"We are very proud and excited to be bringing New Year’s Festival to the streets of Dublin. This two day festival programme promises to deliver a bigger party for both Dubliners and visitors alike while showcasing our beautiful City as a world class New Year’s destination."
Paul Kelly, CEO, Fáilte Ireland, said:
“The New Year’s Festival Dublin is always a highlight in our festival calendar and this year we are delighted to work with Dublin City Council to offer an amazing programme of events to ring in the New Year on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in the capital city. Festivals and events are crucial to the tourism sector.
"The New Year’s Festival Dublin not only provides a boost for tourism businesses in Dublin at an off-peak time of the year, it also gives overseas visitors to Ireland a unique opportunity to experience the very best of our culture, people and places.”
Tickets for the concert are priced from €36.90 and are on sale at 9am this Friday 18th October Ticketmaster outlets nationwide and www.ticketmaster.ie.
