Ireland's latest bank holiday could be just a once-off occurrence.

The Irish Independent reports that it's likely there'll be an extra bank holiday in 2022 around St Brigid's Day. Monday 31st January is a likely date for the new day off as February 1st falls on a Tuesday this year.

It's set to be introduced by government to thank Irish people, especially frontline workers, for their part during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

However, it could be just a once-off holiday and not an annual thing. It's reported some employer groups are against the idea of a permanent bank holiday.

The Government have yet to confirm the exact details surrounding the new bank holiday.
