What a strange time Normal People mania was in all of our lives.

It's all people spoke about for weeks following it's release on Netflix and led the protagonist to unintentionally become a fashion icon.

The ‘Paul Mescal’ effect has been credited with leading to a rise in the sale of O’Neills shorts.

The brand enjoyed a sales boost of 20 per cent after the actor made the GAA shorts one of the most sought after fashion items of 2020.

Mescal wore the shorts in Normal People and was also photographed out and about in them.

It's not just O'Neill's who cashed in on the success of Mescal's getup though, these Gucci threads followed also came along following the success of Normal People.
