There's a call on employers to consider re-introducing mask wearing in offices.

It comes after a recent spike in cases. The number of Covid patients in hospitals is now at 1,547, an increase of more than 1,000 in a month.

Now, CIPD Ireland the professional body for HR in Ireland has urged employers to consider if mask wearing should be re-introduced into offices.

"What we are asking them to consider is bringing in mask-wearing , particularly in common areas", says Director of CIPD in Ireland Mary Connaugton.

Currently, there is no mask mandate in workplaces. However, the Emergency Department Taskforce has urged Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly to consider any and all measures to reduce cases.

This issue is likely to come under further scrutiny in the coming weeks.
