The kindness of a stranger and a chicken fillet roll made the man €11.2 million richer.

The anonymous Wicklow man who became the envy of the nation after winning €11.2 Million from the national lottery last week has revealed how he came to buy the lucky ticket.

In a tale of extreme luck he explained how he received a €10 tip from a customer at his job, and thought he'd spend the money on sneaky chicken fillet roll for lunch.

And with the leftover change he picked up a ticket in the lottery. Chicken fillet rolls are amazing...but rarely are they ever life changing.

The lucky man said: "I was at work that morning and a happy customer gave me a €10 tip so I decided to pop into the Spar garage to get myself a chicken fillet roll for my lunch and with the change, I got myself a Lotto Quick Pick.

"It was a simple act of kindness from a customer which led my family to a win of a lifetime. It's something I will always be grateful for."

According to RTÉ, he also said that he and his family are going to stay grounded after the massive win, and that a brand new dishwasher is top of their shopping list.

Speaking of his immediate reaction, he said: "I just sat there in silence. It was such a magical feeling, knowing that you've just won a life-changing sum of money as easy as that."

His win was the fifteenth highest jackpot since the Lotto was launched in 1988.
