Will this change the content you post to Insta?
Irish Instagram users won't be able to see how many likes other people get, as part of a new test being rolled out from today.
Users will still be able to see how many likes their own posts get, but other people won't.
The test has previously been run in Canada, with the platform aiming to see whether users focus less on getting likes for what they share.
Instagram says they don't want their platform to feel like a competition.
The company said there was a lot it wanted to learn more about how the change would affect users’ experience of the service.
“We want Instagram to be a place where people feel comfortable expressing themselves. This includes helping people to focus on the photos and videos they share, not how many likes they get,” Tara Hopkins, Head of Public Policy, EMEA at Instagram said.
“We are now rolling the test out to more countries so we learn more from our global community and see how this can benefit people’s experiences on Instagram.”
