Thousands of people are working from home today as schools, colleges and creches remain closed.

70 people have now been infected with the coronavirus in Ireland, and one person has died.

The HSE has asked the Government to prioritise childcare for health care workers and have told unions to expect an announcement this morning.

Meanwhile the Garda Commissioner is expected to announce that student Gardaí will not finish their training and instead become immediately qualified as part of the coronavirus policing plan.

Sam McConkey, Infectious disease specialist with RCSI, says further measures around airports could also be considered.
