Eight counties along the west coast are under a status yellow wind warning this morning.

It will be in place in until 11am in Kerry, 1pm in Cork, while it will run in Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal until 3pm this afternoon.

Met Éireann says it will be unseasonably windy in these areas with gusts of up to 90 kilometres per hour possible.

Here's the full national forecast for today:

Thursday

Unseasonably windy with fresh to strong, gusty southerly winds. Those winds will reach gale force on Atlantic coasts with very rough seas. You can expect some rough conditions on inland lakes too. Rain in the west will move eastwards across the country with sunny spells and scattered showers this afternoon.

The winds will moderate later but will remain strong near west and northwest coasts. Highs of 19 degrees.

Tonight will remain windy near northern and western coasts but southwest winds will moderate elsewhere. Scattered showers will continue in the west and north but showers will be isolated over the rest of the country with long clear spells. Lows of 10 degrees.
