In case you hadn't noticed all the decorations plastered in the shop windows or the bitter chill in the air, the spooky season is back.

And if you feel you haven't made the most of Halloween over the past few years, fear not...

There's more than enough awesome events happening all over Ireland to make 2019 the best Halloween you've had.

We've had a dig around the place and found five things we think would be ideal for celebrating both the scary, the fantastical and the fun elements that make the 31st of October so special.

1. Haunted Spooktacular Kells, Co. Meath (16+)

If you're chasing a serious scare this year, Haunted Spooktacular is for you.

The only scare attraction in Ireland designed just for adults, you can walk into the your ultimate living nightmare to get your heart pumping this Halloween.

Whether you’re a Horror movie fanatic, or a Halloween junkie, love to be petrified or just enjoy the detail of a highly interactive one-of-a-kind experience, Haunted Spooktacular is epic.

2. Galway Aboo Halloween Festival 2019, Galway City.

Galway City is famous for being a hot-spot for the Halloween bank holiday weekend.

And the city’s medieval streets are set to come alive once again for a celebration of all things Halloween.

The highlight of the festival is expected to be the amazing Macnas Halloween Parade that will wind its way through Galway city centre on Sunday of the bank holiday weekend at around 5.30pm.

3. Halloween Festival At Westport House, Co. Mayo

This one is safe for little witches and gremlins.

Over the course of a week an 18th century historic house will be transformed into a haunted house for the week.

Running from 26th and 31st October is the perfect place to go for fiendish family fun.

4. Virginia Pumpkin Festival, Co. Cavan

The Virginia Pumpkin Festival is an annual weekend-long event that takes place at the end of October.

Recent elements of the festival include a pumpkin maze, holiday parade and Ireland's Largest Fancy Dress Party.

It is a fun-filled event for the whole family to enjoy, with a firework display and pumpkin carving competition being a regular spectacular feature.

5. Halloween at Lullymore Heritage Park, Co. Kildare

This week long event of ‘Halloween Happenings’ in Kildare mixes terror and fun for a spine- tingling and joy-filled experience.

Bringing out the ghouls and treats over this week are Haunted Holograms, Terror Train Trips, Treasure Hunts and even zombie attacks.

For kids, there are both indoor and outdoor play areas along with Halloween fun and games.
