Apparently we have less faith in our leaders than others in the EU.

Almost half of Irish people don't trust our government to be honest or tell the truth.

The new study was commissioned by UCD, which saw 12,000 people across six countries surveyed in January this year.

It included 2,030 people in Ireland, according to the Irish Examiner.

It found that the Irish public's perceptions of our leaders were more negative than others in the EU.

Almost six in 10 people in Ireland think the government doesn't communicate accurate and unbiased information.

While over half (54%) are unsure whether to believe them.

45% of those who took part think the Government here ignores rules and procedures.

Reporter Mairead Cleary says Irish people also don't feel heard by those in power.

"The majority of us also feel the government is ignoring them, only the UK and Poland feel more ignored by their governments," Mairead said.

"In Germany and Italy, it's around 41 percent, whereas 10% more here feel they're not being listened to," she added.
