There's no buzz quite Galway in July!

Is there any city in Ireland that can match the electric feel of Galway City during the Galway International Arts Festival?

We don't think so...

Year after year the festival just keeps outdoing itself, and we've spotted five events we're particularly excited to see at the GIAF 2019!

1. Two Door Cinema Club at the Heineken big Top.

With three critically-acclaimed albums, Two Door Cinema Club have cemented their position as one of Ireland’s best indie rock bands.

And fittingly they're the one of the centerpieces of the famous Heineken Big Top! Where they'll be belting out serious hits such as: ‘Something Good Can Work’, ‘Undercover Martyn’ and ‘What You Know'.

Plus fresh on the back of the release of their brand new album 'False Alarm' you're bound to hear some brand new tunes!

Two Door Cinema Club will be strutting their stuff on Friday July 26th at the Heinkiken Big Top, grab your tickets here.

2. Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and other love songs).

Mayor Goodman has been assassinated. And so has his dog. Macheath the contract killer is dangerously on the loose. What the hell is the world coming to?

Following their triumphant GIAF debut in 2017 with Tristan & Yseult, Kneehigh are back with their widely acclaimed Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and other love songs) based on John Gay’s The Beggar's Opera.

Described as “Bright, bold and timeless”, by The Guardian, this classic musical satire, is bursting with wit, wonder and weirdness.
And we can't wait to see it!

Check out the performance times for Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and other love songs) here.

3. The Irish Border and the GAA: What Now? | Joe Brolly and Paul Rouse.

One of the most powerful things you can do is to get yourself informed!

And you have the chance to gain an interesting perspective on one of the issues that has avoided the brexit spotlight... what does it mean for the GAA?

Well known sports commentator Joe Brolly and sports historian Paul Rouse will discuss the implications for the GAA of a potential vote on the Irish border.

The chat will be led by Mark Duncan, Director of Century Ireland and co–author of The GAA: A People’s History.

It'll certainly be interesting! And you can grab your spot here.

4. Guru Dudu Silent Disco Walking Tours.

You've heard of a silent disco...but a silent walking tour?

David Naylor is Guru Dudu, and he his fellow tour gurus become your charismatic guides on a ‘silent disco’ power walk through Galway!

With hilarious commentary, a fifty–strong crowd will dance and sing their way through the streets from Eyre Square to the Spanish Arch and Galway’s west end - All to the beat of the Guru’s hand–selected mixtape of 70s, 80s and 90s classic tunes!

Onlookers can’t help but to stop and stare as you strut your stuff through the colourful streets!

Tours meet in the Festival Garden, Eyre Square, find out more here.

5. Out of Chaos... By Gravity & Other Myths.

Gravity & Other Myths have been dropping jaws across Europe, America and Australia...

Their amazing acrobats and performers are truly something to behold!

And their latest show Out of Chaos... is a spectacular exploration of a thrillingly skillful circus featuring jaw–dropping acrobatics with live music.

If you love your mind being blown, this is the show for you! And your seat is waiting for you here.
