So close but yet, so far.

€4,903,530. That's an ungodly sum of money to have landing into your pocket at a moment's notice.

And if you were a certain lotto player from Co. Galway over the weekend, you'd be in tears to learn how tantalizingly close you came to bagging every cent!

A Clifden player was one measly number from winning the whole jackpot over the weekend.

The had managed to match 5 number and the bonus ball, so it's not all bad news because they still won themselves a cool €56,230 - plenty to celebrate about!

Not bad for a Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw in The Paper Shop on the Main Street in Clifden.

The winning Lotto numbers in Saturday's draw were: 29, 30, 36, 38, 44, 45 and the bonus was 25.

While there was no winner of the €4,903,530 jackpot on offer in last night’s draw, over 97,000 players won prizes across the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws.

Wednesday’s (7th July) jackpot will now roll to an estimated €5.2 million.

It's been a lucky spell for Galway players in particular.

A National Lottery spokesperson said:

“It’s been quite the week for Lotto players in Galway! We have seen three players in the West come just one number shy of the jackpot in the last three Lotto draws. We are urging all of our players who purchased their tickets for last night’s draw in the Clifden area to check their tickets carefully today as one lucky player has a ticket worth €56,230. The winning ticket holder is advised to sign the back of their ticket and make contact with our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or [email protected] and arrangements will be made for them to claim their prize.”
