The meteors were spotted in Mayo, Galway, Clare, Cork and Fermanagh.
Astronomy Ireland has confirmed that two bright objects spotted in the sky over Ireland on Monday night were shooting stars.
The fireballs were spotted in Co Cork, Co Clare, Co Fermanagh, Co Mayo and Co Galway.
Fireball's are large meteors that can be seen with the naked eye, and are quite rare, so you saw something special if you spotted them.
It wasn’t a firework folks, despite the week that’s in it! ? ? They don’t make them that big yet. Sounds like a meteor or a fireball. Thanks for the reports and keep them coming.

The Astronomy Ireland website explains: ''Most fireballs probably come from pieces of smashed off asteroids as the result of something (probably another asteroid) colliding with an asteroid, probably millions of years ago.''
@CorkSafetyAlert @rtenews @Corks96FM Just caught this on my dashcam outside Banteer, Cork. Bright meteor/fireball flashing across the sky. Footage doesn't do it justice, very cool. #greatballsoffire pic.twitter.com/87ey9nvuhH
