Met Eireann has extended its red weather warning to include Co. Kerry as Storm Hanna makes landfall.
County Clare is also under red alert with violent gusts of up to 150 kilometres expected in both counties.
The worst of the weather is expected from 6pm to 8pm in Co. Kerry and from 8pm to 11pm in Co. Clare, the national forecaster is advising people to stay indoors.
Status RED-Wind Warning for Kerry
Northwesterly winds, associated with Storm Hannah, will reach mean speeds in excess of 80 km/h with violent gusts of 130 to 150 km/h in places this evening between 6pm and 8pm.

Meanwhile an orange alert is currently in place for Cork, Clare Kerry and Limerick, and is being extended to Galway, Tipperary and Waterford later this evening.
Wind speeds of 65-80 km/h along with gusts of up to 110 to 130 km/h are expected in those counties.

A yellow wind warning will also come into effect for Connacht, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly and Donegal from 11pm tonight.
