The National Transport Authority has launched a tendering process for the new system.
CEO of Dublin Bus, Ray Coyne, told the Oireachtas Transport Committee yesterday that the process is underway. He said the system would also offer people cheaper fares the more often they use the bus.
The news has been welcomed as a boost for customers, tourists and drivers alike.
Sean Yeates of the National Bus and Rail Union explained how it will benefit everyone:
“The positives are that it improves driver safety, it reduces dwell time by speeding up boarding and delays to the service."
“Of course, for tourists it means that tourists can come in and there is seamless transport."
